Encouraging Kodak

I must differ with Allan's brief comment that corporations do not care
what we want, and that we do not have a voice in which products
eventually roll off assembly lines.

I work for a large company which provides numerous products and services,
one of which is highway maps. All letters written to the company with map
comments are sent directly to my manager. We read each letter's comments
and requests, research the possibility and accuracy of the information,
and decide whether or not to include changes to the next revision of the
map affected. Each letter gets a written response from my manager.

This is only one example where customer input DOES have an effect on the
product. I realize not all companies and corportations work this way, but
some do. Written letters, not phone calls, not e-mail, are the MOST
effective way to communicate your needs and desires to a business. They
get TOP priority. If you can type it on a computer, you can also press
the Print key, fold it and stick a stamp on the envelope. If we want
Kodak to produce quality products, write to them and tell them what you
want. Period. Buying competing products will, indeed, show up as data in
some market research and companies will follow the market. So who's
following whom?

There is an old saying that money talks and B.S. walks. Buying good
products yields better products; buying cheap inferior stuff puts more of
that on the shelves. Support good ideas and good quality.

Sincerely,
