Yes that is a very nice site. As you know they also have Washington D.C.
and you can go down to 1 meter/pixel resolution. You can check out quite
a bit of the capital such as the white house, capital building, airport,
Pentagon etc.. I have had fun measuring the dimensions of the White house
with these aerial shots. The 1 meter/pixel pics they roughly one meg each
thou. As you mention they are flatties but at least they're freeee. I wish
they had that for Montreal even thou it's 2d.

BTW as some already know you can also get DEM maps of the whole US
(and a tiny portion of Canada and Montreal) on the net which can then
be converted into 3d anaglyphs with programs such as Vista Pro. I haven't
personally done it but a friend of mine has. What Vista Pro does basically
is take contour elevation maps and reconstructs it into a 3d perspective
simulationed views. You can view the simulation from any angle and Vista
Pro lets you construct it in anaglyph by taking basically side by side
shots and convert them to real 3d anaglyh pics. Vista Pro has a site on
the web but the program is not shareware. It is available as a demo in
some books and maybe on the web. Others on P3D (Lincoln Kamm) have
experimented with this and they have talked about it. I am not sure
but I think there is some shareware versions similiar to Vista Pro
that I have seen on the net but have never gotten around to trying
them.

Now regarding the SL3D controversy which I am having a hard time
following, shouldn't it be called, "3d or not 3d that is the question?".
Or maybe what is the question?

Gabriel
