Projector question

I pulled out the lenses on a 716 projector I just acquired, to clean them and
found that the heat filters are 'diseased'.  They're covered with a white
powdery corrosion, and are thus no longer clear.  Any ideas how to fix them?
Can they be buffed out? Or does anyone know where I can get replacements?
