TDC bulbs

  If I remember my electronics (a drop out from EE school)...AC current
travels on the surface of a wire, as opposed to DC which travels throughout.
If the wire shrinks (through evaporation), then the surface area is
considerably smaller, and the AC current would be severly restricted. 
  Also, assuming the bulb manufacturers remember what I do, then they might
find it cheaper to coat the EXTERIOR of the wire with a special material,
and if that's really the case, as the coating burns off, AC current would
travel over a less efficient core material, and again (in addition) the
current and brightness would quickly be reduced.
