Actually, IMAX has moved back to a less-wide format. If you sit in one of
the center seats, though, the frame becomes almost non-discernable due to
the limits of peripheral vision. This is particularly striking in stereo
(for those of us who notice such things) because it has the effect of
eliminating the infamous 'stereo window'. You don't pay much attention to
the 'edge' because you can barely see it.
