I agree with that... I guess I wanted to argue some of the disadvantages of
this medium when it comes to sharing 3d images (and not general 3d or other
kind of information).
It is a fact that most great stereo photographers of our time do not
monitor photo-3d and do not even have access to a computer. The voice of
experience is missing from photo-3d and good 3d work that wins PSA awards
is nowhere to be seen. This is a problem. Here we have some young (?)
fellow who calls himself "Dr. T" and manages to fool everybody into
thinking that he is an experienced stereo photographer... while he has only
been taking stereo pictures for 8 years and has only used one stereo
camera. With such a limitted experience, it does take a never to have on
opinion (note: opinion, not facts) about anything and everything...
Even when it comes to his favorite camera, he acted surprised and
happy to discover the origin of the infamous light leak, whose existence
and cure have been known to the stereo community for many many years...
I am reflecting personal preferences when I say that I find the old-fashion
way of sharing original 3d work via mail or via a stereo club a much more
satisfying experience than via a computer. Despite your good and appreciated
efforts to find a "home" for my images, I really do not feel the need to
put those images in the computer today. Those of you who do that and find
it exciting, good for you. I am not saying not to do it. Just try and be
selective and only put your very best images. I hope that from the many
"visitors" that you get, some of them will be impressed and decide to join
our ranks. Keep up the good work! (no irony here).
