Good point! My first response was to say that it is not the same, but
after second thought I realize that it is very much the same. I have been
using slide copying to alter the color balance, crop, enlarge or even copy
slides to a different base. Very similar to using the computer for that.
One could argue the computer can create a totally artificial image. And so
can tabletop photography as Stan White has demonstrated. At the end, the
computer can be just another tool in one's imaging toolbox (per Larry's
suggestion). Allowing computer enhanced images, or totally artificial
images, to compete face to face with camera images (as we do in Detroit)
can give a good workout to traditional stereo workers and result in better
images. Not everyone will like that, so it will interesting to see what
happens as technology makes such manipulation more convenient and
inexpensive and computer images become more widespread... -- George T.
