What happens when you cannot imagine the depth in a flat image?

Case in question is the amazing book "Museum 3-D", also discussed recently
in the list. Classical paintings have been converted in 3d. It is OK when
you see a scene that you can imagine in 3d. But most of the paintings in
this book could not be imagined in 3d! That's what is so amazing about this
work. The creator of these images did a wonderful unique art that deserves
all the praise he got.

This is remarkable and original work but I still have hard time comparing it
with an ordinary 3d photograph because it stands on a leaque of its own.

George
