New video

I'm bummed - I thought I has Alaska's 3D market all to myself,
but nooooo, somebody beat me to the punch ...

Today's Anchorage Daily News business section's headline:

"Novel video goes for a new niche in Market"

A producer of videos for the tourist market, SkyRiver Films, has
come up with "Alaska 3-D" as an attempt to stand out in a market
saturated with scenery and bears. (About 60 Alaska tourist
videos crowd the shelves.) SkyRiver films President, Starr
Horton, said (according to the newspaper), "the new video, which
gives the illusion of depth to its images, is no gimmick. It is
a collection of quality footage with visual sophistication."

According to the paper, the video can be viewed without the
cardboard glasses (anaglyph I assume) and still have a sharp
image. The film was made using "NuOptix" technology from a
German company, Telecast International. The article said the
video was 3 1/2 times more expensive to make than a standard
video production.

The tapes, available Nov. 1 will cost about $20 and include 1
pair of glasses, additional glasses cost $1.29.

I'll be buying a copy as soon as its available, and will post a
review - perhaps it will be the perfect Christmas present.

Anybody out there familiar with NuOptix? Can you provide some
info?
