Keith, I have noticed the same problem and have the same questions
that you have.  I hope that experienced VM collectors in this list
will give us a convincing explanation.

I have many examples of same reels where one is fuzzy and one is not.
This obviously creates a problem.  Every collector when they get
duplicate reels they go into their collection, compare the old and
new reel and keep the sharpest/better one.  They then proceed to
sell/trade the fuzzy/worse one.  I will not be surprised if you bought 
your batch of 50 reels with high "reject rate" from a collector.

That being said, are you still interested in buying my stock
of duplicate reels? ;) ;) ;)
