Re: Computer Stuff? I Know!

Great post Larry! When I mentioned I would join Bill Battle in sawing them
and putting two together I meant figuritivly. I did in my mind wish for
a 3d digital camera but did not think of the aspects you mention in your
post. Now I changed my mind. I don't want a 3d digital camera but two
$25 dollar digital cameras. The points you raise make sense. Oh yes, I would
also like that comprehensive 3d kit to go along with it.
In all seriousness thou I don't think most of us would really need a kit
to tell us how to take pictures using 2d cameras and we don't have to
wait for $25 digital cameras to take 3d pics inexpensively. So I am rather
puzzled at Sams suggestion that maybe we need a kit to fill the void.
The point of the $25 digital camera is that it would be portable and you
would be able to take 3d pics (with 2 $25 digital cameras :-)) out of doors
and not be tied down close to a computer to take them. As is the case now
if you want to take 3d digital pics at home this can be done with video
grabbers coupled with a videocam. Or even with a color or B&W quickcam
which has the video grabbers built in. The cheapest way to take 3d pics
now is with 1 B&W quickcam but of course there is severe limitations. B&W
for one. Resolution wise it's not great but is not bad for internet use.
Can only take still subjects unless one fabricates a beam splitter device.
Third its not portable unless you have a laptop. Still for under $100 US
one can start experimenting with digital 3d snapshots and the day is coming
fast when there will be a $25 digital color camera. (okay give or take a
few ducks, I mean bucks, those darn ddd's again.) Now how about Cu-SeeMe
in 3D!
