If I were to do the same effect, I would line up 
numerous cameras and fire all at the same time.(With flash)
Then, after scanning, use morphing to create a smooth
transition between the images.

Isn't it strange the camera moves sideways? If _I_ had a digitized
3D-scenery with this apparent quality, I would certainly do more 
intricate camera movements.
