I think this reaction hits at the heart of the discussion here a few weeks ago
about why slides have fallen into such disfavor with people in recent years.
When I was growing up, slides were a common entertainment in the evenings, as
were 8mm (and for some, even 16mm) home movies -- both the kind you shot
yourself and the kind that could be bought cheaply and which featured 10-minute
abridgements of old movies. But television is THE home entertainment today. Even
home movies are tolerated only when they are shown on the television set. Which
in brief is why it's so hard to find a roll of KodaCHROME anyplace today.
