TV and Dr. T viewers

First, a response to Paul Talbot regarding viewers and evangelists:
>do we really want to recall all the P3D stereo photography
>evangelists who, for whatever reason, are still showing their
>work with $3 steal the light viewers?
Certainly not! I started with the $3 viewer and, as a starting viewer, it
is an excellent compromise of price vs. quality, both capable and adequate
of enjoying and sharing your work at this early stage. I was thinking of
those who have a red button or equivalent viewer but take the $3 at work
or at the post office because they do not want to risk the better one.
IMO, it is worth taking the risk and inconvenience if it can make a better
impression of your work or help recruit an extra person to 3d.
Second, in response to Chuck Field who says that the TV competes with 3d
and it has become a bad habit . That s true for many people. In that
respect it competes with everything! Everything worth doing but not doing
because of sitting in the couch glued to the screen all night long! In my
mind, 3d competes mainly with 2d prints. People take 2d pictures with or
without TV. I take 3d slides instead. It does take more time and
dedication to work with 3d images and it does cut TV time down, but, for me
and others, it is worth doing. But, I can see how some other people, my
wife for example, have no interest in doing this and will rather watch TV,
read the paper, or snap a few 2d pictures from time to time.
My kids? I am concerned when I see them close one eye in the red button
viewer. I think their interocular distance is too small to use these
viewers (and certainly any VM viewer!) and be impressed by the 3d effect.
