I've seen demos of the DMD and it's really pretty facinating. And the
color and clarity of projected images, both on a wide screen TV and
projected on a screen is phenomenal. The other interesting thing is that
you don't see scan lines when looking closely at the displays. You see
little squares! That's because each pixel is represented by a
micro-mirror.
The possibilities are "endless". The demo tape I saw even predicts that
one day movie theaters will use the DMD to project movies and that studios
will ship the movie to the theater digitally via fiber optics rather than
bother with making film reels.
Who knows, maybe we will see "picture frame" TVs in the near future :-)
