Paul Talbot comments on his aerial stereo photography brought back
memories for me of my attempts on it. Six years ago I took some
3d pics when I was coming back to Montreal. As we were positioned north
of Montreal I took a pic with my P&S Minolta and then took another right
after the motor advanced to the next frame. After getting them developped
on regular slide mounts I viewed them in a pair of 2d full frame viewers.
(and also my VM) The 3d depth of course was much greater than what was
seen from the plane but very enjoyable nonetheless. Jay Truesdale asks at
what lengths the shots should be taken. What has worked for me is 1 to 10
seconds max. 1 minute would be kind of stretching it unless maybe you were
shooting a distant cloud and even then I would estimate 20 seconds should
be enough.
I also have some taken as the plane was taking off with my video camera.
I haven't tested this aspect but it would be interesting to view it with
the darkend glasses to see it in 3d Pulfrich. I also plan to grab some
frames from the video and convert it that to 3d.
