Stereo photographers have been shooting the moon since day one.  For a
particularly beautiful example of early work see the book: History of
Photography, Techniques and Equipment, by Camfield and Deirdre Wills
(Exeter Books, 1980).  On page 166 is, according to the authors, "an
authentic collodion on glass stereogram of the Moon by Warren de la
Rue."  It will take your breath away!  Dick
