>>I've been working with the Ricoh based RBT for over two years now and have
run well over 100 rolls of film through it. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've
had no problems and have been extremely happy with it. The only minor quirk
it has is a variation in the gap between frames. This is a slight problem if
you are running it through an automatic cutter as sometimes you might lose a
milimeter or so off the edge off a frame, but you lose that anyway when you
are setting the window while mounting. I've heard lots of horror stories
about the RBT, but I haven't experienced any myself. (I haven't run over it
with my car, but I have dropped it a time or two - it still works fine.)

Greg...for everyones interst on not. The X2-B unit is the only one that
shoots 18 pairs of full frame images...which can be sent to a film processor
and returned mounted in standard 2 x 2 mounts. That makes the X2-B 75mm base
is the most popular of the RBT X2 line, users (especially architects and
professional photographers from my observation) can burn a lot of film and
not have to think about spending their remaining days mounting ....they just
get the 2 x 2 's back mounted by the lab....pop them in a little 2 x 2 dual
viewer....edit...and remount the critical pairs that they need....or dont
remount if they can stay in the 2 x 2 format and get away with alignment on a
screen as is.
The X2 A 65mm base shoots a 31.5mm wide image...so the spacing is not
standard full frame...and the X2-C 65mm base..shoots full frame, but has a
nonstandard spacing of the images due to the lens base. So neither of these
units offer film spacing for standard film cutting and mounting....unless you
want to be more rugged with your camera and have Dr.T mash it to the proper
spacing with his Themelisized Range Rover....you know the one with the
European format headlights...and adjustable base windshield wipers.....no
flaring when you drive at a sunset...and a Themlesized auto-level stereo LED
Chumsuk on the dash!!! Speaking of go...I gotta go.....I have to look at my
1960s TV fave "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" View Master reels that Dalia
and Andrew sent my way via NSA....oh boy, think of the hyperstereos we could
have done from the flying sub!!!....glas you are a happy RBT camper!....Jon
