Well it seems the other P3D members took care of the close-up of 3D
of plants & flowers. This is P3D favorite subject! ;;;;-)
There are alot of knowledgeable members that have taken quite a few
of these and am sure we haven't heard from all of them yet.
John B previous post covered the theory with a perfect blend of practical
as usual. Yes I would agree single SLR would be the best and most
economical route. I have some macro shots done with a single camera.
You can check out some of the examples

These are anaglyph 3D pics so you'll have to dig out those red-blue glasses.
What I might add to the discussion of close 3D is there is also (if memory
serves?) a modified Nimslo that is available that can take macro 3D
photography. I think it is still available and if your interested I can
try to dig out the address for you. Another option would be to buy an
unmodified Nimslo and put a large diameter magnifier lens in front of it.
Haven't tried this personally but people have suggested it as a alternative.
There is also (don't think it is available commercially thou) an adaptor
(using 2 surplus lenses from a Nimslo?) an replacing the lens of a SLR with
this mod. One question thou, why would you be trying to take 3D pics of
flowers! It's winter now and all there is, is snow! ;;;-)
You had mentioned to me off list that the owner had talked to the inventor
of the Loreo. You mention it would be returned to be modified, so that it
would able to take pics at 12 inches. This sounds very interesting. Please
keep me posted on it, here or on P3D.
Finally on a separate note. Glad to see you were finally able to subscribe
to P3D. There were some people recently that somehow got on this list and
then had problems getting off. I couldn't imagine why they would want to
get off.
Regards and have a nice summer!
Gabriel
