Auto-focus work with splitter attached?

Does anyone know if auto-focus cameras, specifically Nikon auto-focus,
will work with a splitter such as the Pentax stereo adapter attached?
I'm thinking of getting a newer SLR with auto-focus and a built-in
motor drive, but I'd like to know if I could use one with the
splitter.  I don't know how the auto-focus works, but I though it
might be thrown by the two separate images from the splitter.
