viewmaster flash

first: i have build an adaptor to fit a viewmaster personal camera that accepts
a hot shoe. this was done this summer before i saw dalia's last catalog
featuring a similar but more attractive model
this took considerable time to build from plexiglass and using a milling machine
to cut "T" slots etc. it would be alot easier to buy one from dalia
the flash in a flash strikes me as too flimsy and apt to short out as it does
not have any positive registration as dalia's does
for those who wish to try to make one. the mountin hole is a 10-32 bolt, that
serves as the ground. i copied the viewmaster flash concept and used a floating
contact pin with spring steel contact on top. material is similiar to a feeler
gauge in auto works. the hot shoe sits on top and the channel cut with the
milling machine assures proper alignment of the adaptor.
not knowing any better, this has taken reasonable flash pictures at 1\50th of a
second. presently the camera is being rebuilt by Dalia(i hope she has it!)
and don't have a "after" example of how much better after being properly timed.
either of these adaptors allow use of the bottom of the case to secure the
camera. none allow the top of the case to be closed without first removing the
adaptor, which is just to unscreaw that 10-24 bolt( the above 10-32 quote is
wrong, its 10-24 sorry)
Unrelated question: has anyone ever used twin nikonos cameras underwater?
i've thought about getting a underwater housing but they are $700.00 from
ikelite. debatable with classic stereo camera, rather narrow view etc
i have two nikonos 5 cameras but there is not even cable releases on these
cameras, so any synching would have to be electronic
anyone every hear of this?? they use a 5 pin flash contact, not all of which is
for TTl. maybe somehow the two cameras could be linked by a custom water proof
cord. DrT. any ideas on this?? i can't be the only scuba diver in this group who
has dreamed of this can I?????
