where to locate polarizers?

George,
I would think any glass or film has the potential to depolarize the light.
Having experimented with every possible placement, I've concluded that the
sharpest image results from locating the polarizers just in front of the
slide (screen-side). However, the best extinction comes from locating them
in front of the projection lenses (screen-side). Currently, I use *glass*
Hoya polarizers in front of my projection lenses. These seem to produce a
sharper image than plastic polarizers, do not warp, and can be
fine-tuned (rotated) for maximum extinction.
