Pardon my skepicism here, but how do you differentiate a "prototype" from a
"modification" ? Was the Christie's Marco Realist Prototype actually
documented as a genuine factory prototype?

Let's face it, the Macro Realist is not a landmark of true genius. Anyone
with limited mechanical ability can make one, as the basic concept requires
little more than a large view-type shutter and a standard realist. The
aperture and focus are both fixed, and the advance remains the same. Yes
there's a little labor involved, but not $2000 worth!

So how do you distinguish between the two? To collectors and users alike,
there should be strict guidelines.
