| ( Sorry if you old timers have been over this 11 times. I _did_ try a
|web text search of the archives. And opening 6 MB archive downloads
|crashes my Mac. )

I forwarded Greg some past postings from the archives. For anyone whom
may have joined recently, here is part of my message giving some hints
on searching the archives...
Hi Greg - Appended below are some relevent postings from about a year
ago on the Franka.
I pulled these up on my mac se/30 here in Ouray, so you should not
be having a problem. Did you go directly to the archive folder, or
do a search. The LARGE archive files are really just *raw* files at
this point. If you can it's much preferable to use the GLIMPSE
search engine via a web browser. To do it, point to
http://bobcat.etsu.edu
and follow the links to the photo-3d search engine.
THANKS
Additionally, I might note that the actual ARCHIVES are not being
processed at this point since it's much more convenient to use the
search engine, and doing it that way, you get nice 25k chunks (remember
when we reduced the size of the digests?).
Additionally, when you access to the search engine you get a
KWIC style response, so you can determine if the information looks
relevant to your needs (on this one, for example, I found a bunch of
postings on the Franka BEAMSPLITTER around digest 1060, followed by
a bunch of postings somewhat later on the Franka VIEWER). (uh -
KWIC = "Keyword in Context").
John B. is sequencing thru the postings prior to digest 700 or so,
to get them into chunk retrievable format, but it's a labor intensive
job to do it. Now, *those* are big files.
If anyone has any questions, drop me a line.
Thanks!
