Re: Lenticulars

I am not aware of any debate between lenticular supporters and detractors.
Good quality lenticulars like the one that Paul saw and like the
back-lighted ones that Dalia has for sale are worth owing and having framed
and proudly displayed. These are commercial lenticulars of high quality.
But when it comes to taking your own lenticulars with the 3 lens cameras
available today, I am afraid that the quality of the results is less than
expected. I shot a few rolls with my Nimslo camera and it was fun seeing
this new format but I quickly got used of it and the novelty was gone. I
had a couple of prints enlarged to 8x10 but I was not happy with the
results and I preferred the smaller prints. Perhaps with better processing
or better display I might have continued shooting a roll or two from time
to time. So, unless the technology makes it possible and affordable to get
good quality lenticular prints from my own images, I'll stick with the
Realist slides.

That was the commentary part. Now, can someone give me more information
about the back-lighted lenticulars of John Wayne (holding a Realist!), etc.
Is it possible to have lenticular prints mounted for back-lighting? Is
this desirable?

George Themelis
