Warning! Don't over7Pdoit!

Every long story must have a PS or a disclaimer/warning!

Here is mine: I talked about the advantage if 7p over 5p in slide
competitions. I still urge people to follow their artistic feelings
and sense of composition when deciding on the mount to use (assuming
that they have a choice - this is a big assumption and that's where
7p or full frame RBT etc. have an advantage!)

- Don't be afraid to crop full frame to 7p, 7p to 5p, 5p to 4p and
all the combinations in-between!

- Experienced judges are not affected by sheer size and *do* pay
attention to proper framing and composition.

- I have seen enough slides mismounted in 7p (a flag pole in the center
with lots of empty sky in the sides) when the subject was naturally
calling for 5p or less. Please don't do that!

- Masters of photography (Stan White comes to mind) are known to favor
5p and even cropping 5p to smaller widths (thanks to the variety of
the good old original Realist mounts). Those who have seen Stan's
creative work (in projection, not in VM reels!) know that the Master
is right!

- Go for increased size only if your photography demands it. Not for
the size itself!

To be fair, here are a few disadvantages of 7p compared to 5p:
- Commercial mounting is not available.
- Less variety of mounts.
- Custom modification of viewers/projectors might be required.
None of the above has been a problem for me...

With this note, I promise to leave you alone for the rest of the night
and go back to my slide-mounting!

See (some of) you in Detroit tomorrow!!! (remember? "Spiritual")
God bless us stereo photography (I am suffering from an overdose of
Spiritual images!!!)
