Quick Expo Circuits

Dr.T. posted thoughts about 3-D Expo 2 celebrating its first year anniversary
on the road...

(edited)"'I would not like my images to be on the road for more than one
year... we are looking at a 3 year circuit... by the time expo2 comes back,
newbies will be amateurs, amateurs will be professionals, professionals will
be out [of]the email business and everyone will have [a] hard time
recognizing their own images. Do we want this to happen? Something to think
about...'

I would guess we are now looking at about 1.5 years for the cycle.
Still a long time. I only wish more feedback was posted in the list
from those (lucky ones) who get to see it."

-----How about a "fast" Expo scheme?-----

I envision a two month circuit with multiple, "shuffling" circuits. If a
two participant per week turnaround is achieved, 16 participants could join a
circuit, eight if a week were needed for viewing and comment on the
"Mini-expo." As each circuit concludes, participants would re-organize into
succeeding multiple circuits which would have all-new members.
Unlike current PSA/SSA circuits which are continuing(remove and
replenish) and don't require a high level of administration once set up,
innovative collection and distribution procedures would need to be devised to
begin and end each cycle. In some respects, the V-M "chip swap" is perhaps a
protean version of this idea.

Advantages:
Six sets of images from different Photo 3-Ders per year, one set every
two months.
Few enough images per set to allow constructive review without time
pressure.
Fast enough turnaround so comments have a chance to still be relevant to
the participants level of skill or particular technique/effect attempted.
Slides returned more quickly than with traditional circuits.
Each circuit could comment/communicate among themselves about the
smaller number of images online.

Disadvantages:
     Administrative procedures complicated, undeveloped, untried.
Some may prefer to get a lot of images at once.

Since I kind of like the idea, few disadvantages occur to me... I'm sure
list members can think of more. The developing of procedures and
administration of the circuits is a task I'd be willing to invest time in,
but not as the only developer/administrator, of course.

Feedback on the idea, on or off list would be welcome...

     Thanx...
             LeRoy
