Flash in old stereo cameras

That's a great idea Paul! I am busy right now with other things but
how about you?!? You seem to be a prolific author too!
Actually, there are a lot of things that one can write on flash
in stereo cameras. Connecting the flash is one. What is the flash,
how does it work, how can it be used, how is it synchronized with
the shutter (include here flash bulbs, etc.), what are potential
problems and how they can be detected and solved. Enough material
for a very good and useful booklet.
My problem is that my experience is limited to the Realist. This
project requires access to other cameras and collection of information
and ideas from many sources.
I have modified my Realist by filling off the hot shoe. I've done
that to a couple cameras and I am happy. Personally, I am not concerned
about the effect on the camera's appearance or value. I believe any
modification that makes the camera work better increases the value of
the camera. Others see things differently and there are a number of
ways from modifying the flash to substituting parts so the camera is
not altered permanently. Check older digests for more information.
I use a flash a lot and I like what I get with it! -- George Themelis
