for what it's worth. the original "bump" in the realist flash shoe can
be replaced with a 2-56 thread bolt. best is a round headed machine bolt
that has the head filed until it is basically flat on top, about 1\16"
left from the filing.
next one takes the 4 top screaws out on the top of the realist.
no springs jump out, but the flash wire is attached to that "bump" with
a 3\32" wrench. best to use a tiny open ended wrench this size if
possible. note the sequence of washers. there is rubber washer on both
sides of the top, further down a washer, the spade from the wire, then
another star washer and a 3\32 nut. if you watch how you took it apart,
should go back together the same. just make sure the wire travels under
the moving arm that end with the red dot we see after exposure!!
lenth on the bolt is about 3\8"
the hot shoe "lips" must be opened up alittle, about 1\32", best is with
a very large screawdriver, don't over do it. continue to fit flash shoe
until snug, but able to back it out.
last is to block the front of the shoe slightly to limit the travel of
the flash shoe for proper contact. about 3\32" of tape or other material
once it is set up right, no need for adaptor or pc cords etc. can just
slip flash in and out at will. a real benefit for flash fill to say
nothing of indoor shots. TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT !!!!!!!
