|be replaced with a 2-56 thread bolt. best is a round headed machine bolt

This is basically my mod too. Thanks Kevin!
I used a 2-56 flat head bolt/screw (with a phillips head) which fits
down flush with the top of the spacer. My particular flash unit ("Achiever")
has extendable "bumps" which will go down and make contact just fine.
One slight word of warning. When you take the original 2-56 bolt out,
there will be a cardboard/bakelite collar around the bolt which centers
it in the hot shoe hole. DON'T DROP/LOSE it. I don't know where/how one
would come up with another one to replace it.
