tyco videocam?

A short while ago, someone noted that Costco in Canada was clearing
their tyco kid's videocam for around $35 CDN.
Now, even given the rather poor specs of the unit, at that price I might
buy two and do some experimenting with a simple alternate frame
generator circuit.
Over the past few days here in the US, I've noted the following.
Walmart apparently put their units on sale for around $75 US (slightly
discounted from the $99 retail price). At $75 I wouldn't bite.
However, all of the WalMart stores I've checked (randomly in 3 states),
none of them had any units left. Some said they'd returned them, others
said they sold out and didn't know (naturally) if they were going to
re-order.
Toys R Us has the units but at still full retail ($100 US) - they claimed
to not know anything about a price reduction, and were not willing to
bargain. But Toys R Us has never been known as a price leader.
Does anyone have any further information? I checked the Costco/Priceclub
web page, but it's no help (there are no stores in Texas anyway).
THANKS!
