Thanks to all who acted in my stead as moderators. I have trouble
keeping up with the posts. (It's this darned job; it interferes
with my leisure time.)

When you make a change like this, some people will like it, some
will be neutral, and the occasional bloke will spit his dummy.
My sincere apologies to those who were upset. The major problem
we're addressing is the earlier limitation on commercial or
commercial-like postings. I think many people would like to be
more informed as to what's available, and rightly so. P3D is
getting overloaded and would become even more overloaded if we
allowed commercial posts on it.

We considered that but figured more would be offended by being
added than would be offended by not being added. (This best
guess comes from years of experience listening to indignant
subscribers.) About 10% of the list have opted to join, up to
this point, and the number of sub requests has now died down to
about the level of sub requests for the P3D list. So I think it's
approaching its asymptote.

Sounds like it is about time to announce that there is another
list for strictly technical posts. We were keeping it a little
quiet while it was getting on its feet. T3D averages maybe one
post a day. Definitely not recommended for those who are not
mathematically inclined. To join, send mail to your friendly list
server with the following statement in the body of the message:
subscribe tech3d <your name>
where <your name> really is your name and not your address.
(We're still getting e-mail addresses in that field and that
requires further communication with the sender, in some cases,
to determine his name.)

Now don't misquote me! Fantasy _is_ allowed on sell-3d or else
most folks wouldn't be able to mention their asking prices.
