I do use the 2x2 format in addition to Realist format. It is not as
convenient as having everything in standard stereo format, of course.

Does this assume that the shot was taken with wide angle attachments?
My problem has typically been that the vertical dimension does not
capture all of the scene (in a situation where moving back is not
practical). So simply croppin out 20% of the horizontal axis does
not help the vertical axis problem at all.
