I'm with George on this. I vote for having everything here in one place.
I would even prefer that the sell-lists continue to be included here,
simply because it adds to my knowledge as I read about equipment I
didn't know about, prices, and where to get catalogs or lists on the
internet. 
I can always skim the pages I don't want to read.

As for splitting off the "intro-3d" group, when I started on this forum
about a year ago, I would not have stayed if people talked only about
things that had somehow been prejudged to be beyond the intro stage.
When a "newbie" asks a basic question, I have been impressed by the
patient teaching that goes on here. (Also, I don't want to be afraid to
ask a stupid question once in a while!)

As for chatting or getting off topic, most people on this board are very
intelligent about how far to go, and realize (and apologize for) the
times they get carried away. They know how to laugh at themselves, too!
I sincerely hope any changes will be carefully thought out so as not to
fragment the richness of this board.
