Follow up: 7p closeup with Belplasca

I had a question as to why a closeup attachment was needed for a Belplasca
when the camera focuses down to 1 meter. The answer is that at 1 meter,
you can't take a 7p photo without a prism lens (also called a wedge). The
lenses are too far apart. The original Belplasca close-up could cost you
as much as the camera, but the VM 36" closeup is relatively common. The
only thing you have to be concerned about is that the VM adapter has plus
diopter correction, while the Belplasca does not. However, you can focus
the Belplasca, and you can't focus a VM Personal Camera. A 2 meter setting
on the Belplasca will get you sharp focus in the 36" range at f11. Of
course, you do have the added expense of a rubber band to hold the VM
closeup on the Belplasca.
