You won't notice any difference if the displayed image size you are viewing
is the same for all your samples. You are noticing the screen resolution.
The higher resolution images can be enlarged farther before looking bad. I
generally end up with scans that are just over 1 MB and they get further
reduced before they reach the net so I have plenty of resolution to work
with. The ideal scan for any given image will be determined by what you
intend to do with it and at what size.
