I suspect the shooter might have had something to do with it as well.

Bill, I know what you mean about the Kodaks. The lenses are well coated
and they make really sharp looking pictures with very pleasing contrast.
In general, this is an under appreciated camera. You can buy it cheap,
you can fix it cheap, there is no vignetting at small apertures, filters
and parallax are no problem, it is very simple to operate and easy to
handle, and it gives great results. It is a terrific camera for both the
beginner and the experienced shooter.

It is, however, not recommended for use as a wheel chock! 88-)
