Re: Hyper 3Discover?

Hi! Dr. T is back to his damp and gloomy basement... The red and green
button Realist viewers have similar lenses... I think the discussion was
about the $3 viewers and the Realist or other equivalent viewers.
Gabriel brings an interesting factor in the discussion but I am not sure
that it works in the right direction. Do hyperstereos look better (more
natural?) when viewed with longer FL lenses? How does the FL of the
viewing lenses affect the perception of a hyperstereo? I do not know
the answers. (Where is John B. when we need him??? He is the authority
on the effect of focal lengths of either cameras or viewers in stereo
perception.)
Gabriel also mentioned that VM shots are also hyper, in general:
>I checked the VM shots and found them to be slightly hyper in general
>also. Now why don't most people object to this as strenously.
Which titles did you check? VM has a history of over 50 years, so there
are many-many titles to check. In general, most VM pictures/titles look
normal to me, even though some later titles were shot with twin SLRs. I
remember some recent TV titles that were shot with twin SLRs and the hyper
effect in normal shots with people, etc., looked very objectionable to me.
But this is rather the exception and not the rule in VM photography.
