Can anyone fill in the details behind stretch and squash, or suggest a
book that does.

I've got a shelf creaking with stereo photography books, including
Ferwerda's excellent tome. I've read general explanations and understand
the points in a general way, but I haven't found a detailed technical
explanation.

Thanks,
