Buick View Master

Today a friend gave me a package he received in the mail.  It contained a *
black* VM viewer with a reel called "Buick Century" reel 1.  Its a Buick
promo reel adverizing the new Century automobile, and the enclosed letter
says that two more reels are to come.  The reel is unfortunately, very badly
produced.  The views are of sections of the car, which are flatties, with 3D
text overlaying the photos.  The reel itself is badly printed, with the
window-titles misaligned.  An interesting, but very dissapointing effort by
a zillion dollar company who certainly could afford to put better effort
into this project.  Their idea of using the VM was of course wonderful, but
they easily could have used the VM to astounding effect had they used
stereographers rather than commercial artists.  My sorrow lies in the fact
that these viewers and reels will be distributed to the non-stereo public
who will certainly have a 'so what' attitude toward stereo.  Damned shame.
