Thanks, George, for the fine explanation of the 3 Ls and the "built-in
stereo window."  I'd heard reference to the window being set at 7 ft
in the Realist, but never heard an explanation of how that is done in
the design of the camera.

Now that you've reminded me, yes I did know about that.  Of course the
situation I wanted to know about was how you could tell by looking at
the chips of a mounted pair which was left and which was right--without
trying to rely on our brain's estimation of whether the reconstruction
of the depth is normal or pseudo.  Thanks for explaining why I can't
think about it the same way as with a hand-held pair!
