Re: Laser pointers and reflective screens

Eddie Hosey voices concern that a pocket laser pointer might be endangering
the audiance, due to the laser beam reflecting off the reflective silvered
screen. Well I took another trip to the basement and gathered up the
equipment to do another experiment. On my silver screen, the reflection
of the laser beam lost it's collimation. This being the case, I would
imagine that the laser reflection would pose no viewing hazards. Of course
we are talking about pocket lasers here and not the more powerful ones.
Thus if this is the case, then if the reflection of the beam is not a nice
round dot then, my guess it's pretty safe to look at.

Then again even if the laser beam spot does enter the eye "momentarily"
this would not burn your eyes out. But don't purposely point a pocket
laser into the eyes. At least that is what I have been told.
