Ni-Cd yes, but carefully!

Gabriel, if the manufacturer of a flash says not to use Ni-Cd batteries, I
would not use them. Some (older) flashes do not have the circuits to
protect from high currents. In your case:

>But seriously on my Vivitar 2800 flash it
>specifically mentions that if one takes four consecutive flashes, it
>good blow the electronics.

just take the motor drive off your Realist ;) and restrain yourself, i.e.,
don't shoot 4 consecutive flashes (in short time, I assume?)!!!

George

PS. Ni-Cd's work great in a freqently-used battery-operated stereo viewer.
Especially with high-current halogen bulbs (for sale, etc... ;)) Use
regular (not high capacity) batteries which are much lighter, a
considerable advantage over alkaline batteries!!!
