Sounds like a typical case of "strech" to me. Instead of viewing these
pictures from a distance equal to the diameter of the image (approximately
for ortho viewing, assuming that a normal lens is used) you are viewing
them from many times that. So, I would not call it "hyper" but simply
stretched in the 3d dimension. Assuming of course that the image is not
too small to miss the disparity.

All you need to do is freeview from a long distance or look at Realist
slides at an arm's length, just like Paul has done.
