I have done this with thumbnails of stored digital files. I think the effect
here is simply *stretch*. If the images are already hyper, they will have a
stronger sense of depth to them, but viewing as miniature files doesn't
create hyperness. Note that whatever disparity exists in the full sized
image is proportionally reduced along with the scale of the image.

In a sense, the illusion effect possible with this method parallels the
multiple repetition used in the construction of stereograms. It does offer
the opportunity for special effects and tricks.
