Projecto-View glass

My friend W.F. Boon, Veldhoven, The Netherlands, did some 
experiments to make a translucent screen. He had success
with a clear plastic of the name PERSPEX, that does not
depolarize. He made it dull with a slow sanding machine
in about half an hour. To eliminate the hotspot he put
two sheets back-to-back. 
The sanding was no problem, finding the plastic is a problem
as most plastics depolarize.
