>I don't know of any one on their death-bed saying "I

>usually say something like, "I wish I had gotten to know my

>slides of people who don't like me any more."

This is true but how many people do you see actually spending more QUALITY
time with their family as a result of this thought, instead of just
vegetating in front of their TV sets???

I don't know about you, but stereo photography is a great bond between me
and my 5 & 8 year old kids. I get to spend quality time with them while I
take their pictures. They know that daddy is into View Master (their
generic term for stereo photography). My daughter gave me a paper tie with a
camera (might had one lens) and a RED BUTTON VIEWER drawn in it (yes, the
button was painted red) for father's day present! My daughter loves to go
to (yet another) tour of Acropolis with me when we visit Greece and she
does not mind posing when I ask (even though lately she has been asking $1
for every picture, which makes my photography even more expensive!) We had
a great time together projecting VM one night. They like looking at the
pictures in the viewer and even fight who is going to be first. When they
grow up I think (or, at least, I hope!) they will appreciate their newborn
pictures or all the quality stereo photorgaphy of their youth. I get to
spend more time with my family as a result of my picture-taking interest.

I think the saying is that you don't hear anyone saying "I wish I had spent
more time at the office"... There is certainly nothing wrong with having an
intense hobby that involves the family too. And, as Greg said, having a
good time and taking plenty of pictures do not need to be in conflict.

Sorry for stretching this to an extreme but I needed to take it out of my
system! Now, if I can only convince my wife that my 3d photography is
actually bonding us instead of drifting us apart...;) ;) ;)
