Dunking cameras
- From: P3D Bob Aldridge <bob.aldridge@xxxxxx>

Bob Howard wrote about cameras that had been dunked and survived or
otherwise, so here are my experiences following an unscheduled swim in a
Thames lock.
I had my Belplasca, my Minox EC and my Zeiss binoculars with me.
The Minox got a quick rinse, a dry out and a new film. It's worked
perfectly ever since.
The binoculars were fine after a rinse and wipe off.
The Belplasca also survived, but the aluminium focussing lens mounts
have become very stiff - and I'm still trying to fing someone who knows
how to dismantle them! The shutter, wind-on etc are all working
perfectly again after a strip down and lube...
Of course, this was the Thames, rather than the sea, but it's supposed
to be pretty polluted where I chose to wash my optical equipment :-) :-)
