I have my Realist attached to a Stroboframe Flash bracket. I put my
Vivitar Flash at the top of it, with the cord to the sensor wrapped
around it, and I get a lot more respect than with my Realist alone. At
first glance no-one knows what the setup does, it takes them at least a
minute to 'parse' it out, and the heavy bracket could be used as a club
as well.
I agree about taking your stereo camera on vacation. I purchased my
Realist when I was planning a Mountain Bike trip to Flagstaff. One
benefit I found, while puffing climbing uphill for 10 miles, is a chance
to frequently stop because 'I want to take some more stereo pictures!'
I think my riding companions caught on, but didn't mind since every 100
yards was another breathtaking view, and I'm giving a stereo slide show
with the incredible (IMNSHO) results next month.
