I'm getting a little confused here, and I make the EuroScope! ;-)

First, if the American Stereoscope Kit is the one that I see advertised
everywhere, using cardboard for the scope and two push in lenses (for
between $25 and $35) then I believe that the lenses are the Taylor
Merchant molded plastic lenses. Their quality control is not great, but
when you can get two of these lenses that are molded correctly then they
work very well. Whenever I try to use them (Taylor Merchant lenses) I
end up returning about half for replacement. They have the same spec's
as antique lenses.

On a comparitive basis, the lenses in the EuroScope are of less
magnification than a antique scope lens and have a little more
aberration than the Taylor Merchant. The EuroScope is aimed at the
beginner or very casual user just getting into stereo.

I don't know what lens every company sells, but the cheapo scope that
Jerry Morrow sells uses the Added Dimension lorgnette lens the last time
I saw it. I have not seen a Jerry Morrow scope using the Taylor
Merchant antique scope lenses. (Does Taylor Merchant also sell the
lorgnette?)

Are you saying that the chromic aberration was bad on the Jerry Morrow
lenses (Added Dimension Lorgnette) or the Taylor Merchant lenses
(individual molded lenses of a wedge shape)?

In my experience,If you get two good quality Taylor Merchant individual
scope lenses (the ones that are $7.95/pair)they are almost as good as a
glass antique lens. If you get two (or one) bad lens then all bets are
off.
